Why choose a Premium or PremiumPlus Ultra quality composite PVCu decking product?

We have been in this business a long time and have used and seen many different products over the years. There is a massive range out there and all have their place and use.

As a family business we made a choice to supply and fit products manufactured by companies that have similar ethical values around customer service, product sustainability and quality.

As a consequence of this, our products are UK manufactured and locally sourced as much as possible.

These UK based companies are in total control of the manufacturing process and are therefore able to guarantee consistent quality of their products. This is an important factor when choosing what is going to be fitted.

With the volume of materials we use, combined with our experience we regularly assist these manufactures with feedback and recommended design improvements to keep the products at the forefront of innovation and efficiency particularly from an installer and customers perspective.

We take environmental issues seriously and are aware of the issues facing our planet, especially where plastics are concerned.

The Deck Boards are generally manufactured from around 80% recycled materials instead of virgin grade plastics. At the end of their life, they can be recycled again so there is no need to send them to landfill.

Decking Frames

Aluminium Decking Frames

We have chosen to invest in the development of aluminium decking frames largely due to its environmental credentials. Apart from being a sustainable material and 100% recyclable its also widely-available with in-excess of 60 million tonnes being produced every year.

Aluminium subframes are completely fireproof and when used with Mayfield’s Hampton decking they have a system that is Class ‘ZERO’ fire rated.

Aluminium is both strong and lightweight meeting British standards BS6399 structural load testing. It is easier for installers to handle and manoeuvre. Even large projects such as multi-level decks they are easier to manage due to its weight.

Aluminium is impervious to moisture, insect and fungal attack that other materials suffer from which greatly reduces their lifespan. Aluminium Oxide and Bauxite (the two main raw materials that make aluminium) does not contain any iron particles (the main raw material in steel) which when exposed to oxygen and moisture rust.

Aluminium is a material that lasts which is great news if your deck is located in a British country garden or on the coast where it will be exposed to the harshest weathering conditions day after day, year after year. It is rot proof and rust resistant.

Traditional Timber Frames

Timber has been used in the construction of decks for a long time whilst in the building industry it has used it for a great deal longer and for good reason. Wood is the only truly sustainable material on earth and we can grow as much timber as we need from well-managed forests.

So timber, being relatively newly-grown and then returned directly to nature, is in effect ‘carbon neutral’. In addition, using local timber suppliers dramatically reduces the miles to market, therefore reducing further environmental impact.

Softwoods are the most frequently-used timbers for construction. In order to comply with the building regulations they must always be strength graded and put into a ‘Strength Class’. In the UK, softwoods are graded visually, in accordance with BS 4978:2007, or by machine to EN 14081:2005.

All supplied timbers have been machine graded to achieve a minimum of C16 Strength Class and the timber is stamped accordingly.

An independent body audits and checks the strength grading machine to ensure that the C16 strength graded timber we use complies with current legislation and guidelines.
